Is Megacubo safe?

Yes. Megacubo has been distributed since 2008, its source code is public under GPL-3.0, it installs without elevated privileges and it needs no account. This page answers the security questions with the checks anyone can repeat.

It also states what the application does and does not do, so the answer can be verified instead of trusted.

About the streams themselves

Megacubo is a player. The responsibility for the playlists and streams added to it — including their legality in your country and the rights of the broadcasters — belongs to whoever adds them. This is what the license terms state, and the reason the project publishes no channel list of its own.

If a stream stops working, the fixes are on the player's side or in the source: the FAQ covers playback, connection speed and updates.

Security questions

Is Megacubo safe?

Yes. It is distributed since 2008, its source code is public under GPL-3.0 and it installs without elevated privileges. The Windows installer comes from megacubo.tv and the Linux and macOS builds come from the GitHub Releases page.

Does Megacubo have a virus or adware?

No. The project does not bundle adware, toolbars or third-party installers, and the application contains no advertising module. Antivirus reports from software directories are public and linked on the project's reviews page.

Does Megacubo need an account or my personal data?

No account is required. Playlists, bookmarks and history are kept in the application's own data folder on your machine. Community features, which share publicly available stream addresses, are described in the documentation and in the privacy policy.

Does Megacubo show adult content?

No, not by default: an adult content filter is enabled when the app is installed, and it can be turned off in the settings.

How can I verify what the app does?

The source code is public on GitHub under GPL-3.0, so the behaviour can be audited. The licence agreement and the privacy policy are published in this section, and the legal documents page links both.
