Older Megacubo versions

The whole history is published: every Megacubo version since 2008 has an installer on GitHub and a mirror on SourceForge. The current version is 17.7.0, from September 2026. Before downloading an older one, it is worth checking whether the version is really what brought you here — most of the time it is not.

What usually sends someone looking for an old version

Two things, almost always. The first is a playlist that stopped loading. The second is a machine where the app will not start.

In the first case the version is rarely the culprit: an M3U playlist that stopped loading is usually the address of the list that changed, or its server being down — and the player only shows what it was handed. Changing versions does not fix an address. In the second case it does: if the app will not open on one specific machine, an earlier build can be the difference between using it and not using it, and that is exactly what the links below are for.

If your case is the first, start with the guides and support — the answer is usually there, not in a build from two years ago.

Where every version lives

The project publishes each version in two places, with the same files. Neither asks for an account.

That is more than 170 versions since 2008. The Android APKs appear in both places too, alongside the Windows, Linux and macOS installers.

Which version is current

The current one is 17.7.0, published in September 2026. On Windows, the official installer is the normal path — it installs the current version and keeps itself up to date afterwards. What changed from one version to the next is in the release notes.

The .7z packages under /bin/packages/ are not a version to download by hand: they are what the online installer fetches when it updates an existing installation, and they do not open as an installer. To install from scratch, use the Windows installer or a release from GitHub.

Why an old build is the last option, not the first

None of that is a blocker: if the current version will not run on your machine, use the previous one. It just is not where to start.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I download an older version of Megacubo?

From the GitHub releases, which have one entry per published version with that version's installers, and from SourceForge, which mirrors the same files. This site carries the installer for the current version.

Can I roll back if the new version breaks?

Yes. Uninstall the current build and install the previous version's installer from the releases. Please report what broke to [email protected] or in the GitHub issue tracker, with the version and what the screen showed — the report is what turns the problem into a fix in the next version.

Is using an old version safe?

The source is public (GPL-3.0) and the installers come from the project's own repository, so the origin is the same as the current version. What changes is that an old build no longer receives security or compatibility fixes.

If the problem is the playlist, the version will not fix it

The current version is free and it is the one that receives fixes. Installing takes a minute and asks for no account.
